What has been the hardest part of your internship so far? (Other than the pencil skirts. :) )

This answer must be divided into two parts; a serious note and a reality note.

Serious Note: I think the hardest thing so far has been adjusting to the work flow of an animated movie. I’ve been studying live action and animation is very different. I mean the movie is edited before anything is even animated (sounds simple enough-but this blew my mind). Also animation goes through so many steps. From what I’ve seen it starts with just blocking of the characters, and then a bit of movement, then the mouth moves, then the layout is finalized, then the surfacing goes in and then the lighting- and I’m not even sure if I put those all in the right order (it is only day 4 of my internship. :D). Its just a beautiful beast!

Reality note: The hardest thing to deal with is the thumb-tacks. We use these really small thumbtacks that look like sewing pins- but are less than an inch long. After pinning an 8 x 5ft board on all edges, your thumbs start to beg for mercy. Yeeeeeee- First World Problems.
